Blumenthal Law Office

Our Firm

We are a full-service law firm with a broad range of litigation and transactional experiences in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, criminal law, family law, business law and real estate.

Our firm understands that personal injuries, divorces, criminal charges, and even matters like buying a home or opening a business can change a client's entire life. The legal matters that accompany these situations frequently cause additional stress and anxiety. As your legal representative, we will aggressively advocate on your behalf and will do everything we can to make your experience with the legal process as stress-free as possible. Our attorneys possess high academic credentials, maintain strong community ties, are committed to the pursuit of excellence, communicate effectively, and demonstrate the strictest personal and professional ethics as well as the utmost concern for our clients.

We have a rich tradition of representing families and extended families over the years. Satisfied clients tell us that they appreciate that we regularly travel to meet with them and their families in hospitals, nursing homes, and in their homes. We are also able to schedule after-hours flexible appointments with our clients, and we are available in emergency situations. We care about our clients and are committed to keeping our clients informed every step of the way.

Practice Areas

Litigation is an action brought in court or in an administrative hearing to enforce a particular right. Depending on the issues of a particular case, our firm represents either the moving parties or the defending parties in civil cases in all phases of the litigation process.

Transactional work is when a client wants a contract drafted or reviewed, corporations or limited liability companies created or dissolved, and estate planning or advance directives prepared. Our attorneys will meet with all necessary persons in a non-adversarial setting to accomplish these goals.

  • Medical Malpractice

Medical negligence or "malpractice" occurs when a physician or healthcare provider either fails to do something that should have been done or does something that should not have been done which results in injury or death. Doctors and other health-care providers must follow certain standards when caring for patients. While a simple mistake is not enough to constitute negligence, a death or injury caused by the failure to provide reasonably appropriate or common standards of care or the failure to diagnose an easily detectable illness may be malpractice.

We aggressively investigate and pursue claims for catastrophic injuries and death arising out of:

    • Inappropriately or Negligently Performed Surgery
    • Birth Trauma
    • Failure to Diagnose Cancer and Other Diseases
    • Pharmaceutical Injuries and Prescription Drug Errors
    • Prosthetic Injuries

We are experienced health care and medical malpractice lawyers who can help clients determine whether or not malpractice has occurred where someone is injured as a result of negligence or misconduct of individuals in the dental, medical, psychiatric, and other health professional fields.

  • Automobile, Trucking & Motorcycle Accidents

Serious vehicle and motorcycle accidents require the guidance of an experienced attorney. We have years of practice and an impressive track record representing people who have suffered significant injuries in motor vehicle accidents (commercial and personal).

We work with physicians and other health care providers to assess and review all the short- and long-term medical aspects of your case. During the past forty years, Paul Blumenthal has ridden and raced cars and motorcycles and thoroughly understands cars, bikes, bikers, and automobile and motorcycle injury laws. Our detailed understanding of Maryland and the District of Columbia's automobile, insurance and liability laws means we understand the different sources of recovery available to car accident victims and their families as well as the various theories of liability that enable those victims to collect from the parties who caused them harm.

  • Personal Injury & Wrongful Death

We represent victims and the families of victims who have been seriously injured or killed as a result of the negligent or wrongful conduct of others. We understand how insurance companies and lawyers on the other side think. Insurance companies are interested in minimizing their economic exposure when a serious injury or death has occurred. They hire attorneys whose job it is to aggressively undermine each aspect of your claim. We know their tactics. We take each case on as if it will proceed to trial and we are not afraid to take a case all the way to jury verdict if that is what is necessary to produce the best possible result. Our firm represents individuals injured in all types of situations, including industrial construction, and equipment-related accidents.

  • Criminal Defense

We have extensive experience defending the rights of people arrested and accused of criminal offenses. Our firm handles all types of criminal cases, including minor infractions and misdemeanors such as, drunk driving (DWI/DUI), domestic violence, assault, drug possession, and the most serious felony indictments such as gun charges and assaults, narcotics sales, theft, and grand larceny, white-collar fraud, and embezzlement.

  • Real Estate Litigation & Transactions

When it is necessary to enforce our client’s rights in zoning matters, property disputes, construction or environmental issues, we will aggressively represent our client in the litigation process.

Our firm performs real estate transactional work for builders, real estate brokers, and private individuals in Maryland and the District of Columbia. We assist with the purchase and sale of real estate, including negotiating and drafting purchase agreements and other documents, ensuring good title, and closings. Our experienced attorneys also assist our clients with the legal aspects of financing, refinancing, and foreclosures.
